In our case it repeats every year, every day, every moment. Each year we see a replay of previous year's events.
Acquittal of criminals and the corrupt courtesy our dysfunctional judicial system, politicizing of each and every issue of our country by our honourable politicians, yet another round of terror attacks and a list that might never end.
Every year, every day, every moment, a common man bears the brunt.
But where does the problem lie?
The problem lies deep within. The problem is our resignation, the problem is our indifference, the problem is us being content with somebody else controlling the reins of our lives.
Through Manthan we wish to make everyone realise the immense power each one of us possess. The power to raise our voices against injustice, the power to go against the conventions which weighs us down, the power to fuel the process of change.
Unlike other street play festivals, Manthan is not meant to be about performances in renowned amphitheatres, neither it is about hefty cash prizes. It is an effort of SSCBS’s street play society Verve, initiated to spread a message of hope and revival, to spur people towards transformation with the belief that the power lies within them!
The prime motive of Manthan is to call on the street play societies of various colleges to initiate a movement, to bring street theatre to public places and schools, to arouse a sense of responsibility and cognizance about sensitive issues maligning the society, amongst the uninitiated.
We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all the colleges, who helped in making Manthan '11 a huge success. This year also, we seek your support, which is indispensable in furthering our mission.
